University and College Rankings

Like accreditation, the use and misuse of rankings is an important issue to students, parents and others in both Vietnam and the United States. 


Here are some online resources about rankings and their use as a means of selecting a suitable university or college.

College and University Rankings:  “From sports to education, Americans are captivated by rankings…” (Site Introduction) Of course, not only Americans are captivated by ranking. This informative site, created by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s Education and Social Science Library, contains information about and links to many different rankings. It also features a “Caution and Controversy” page to increase your knowledge about rankings.

The Education Conservancy:  Established in March, 2004, The Education Conservancy (EC) is a non-profit organization committed to improving college admission processes for students, colleges and high schools.  Both IIE-Vietnam offices have copies of COLLEGE UNRANKED: Ending the College Admissions Frenzy, written by The Education Conservancy founder, Lloyd Thacker, and published by Harvard University Press.
